Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) can be regarded as a key factor determining the severity of multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19 in children (MIS-C), and often requires treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) to avoid life-threatening complications. No reputable specific criteria for the diagnosis of MAS in MIS-C patients have yet been identified, and criteria currently used for the diagnosis of hemophagocytic syndromes, such as HLH-2004, MAS-2005, and MAS-2016, are not sufficient for MAS in MIS-C. Our goal in this study was to work out the criteria for the early diagnosis of MAS in MIS-C.

This case (FGR)-control (FGR free) study included 904 women (273 FGR and 631 control) in the third trimester of gestation examined/treated in the Departments of Obstetrics. For single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) multiplex genotyping, 50 candidate loci of mAAM were chosen.

Methods: All study participants (n = 1,100) were divided into 2 groups in terms of body mass index (BMI): BMI ≥ 30 (255 KOA patients and 167 controls) and BMI < 30 (245 KOA and 433 controls). The eight GWAS-significant KOA single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) of six candidate genes, such as LYPLAL1 (rs2820436, rs2820443), SBNO1 (rs1060105, rs56116847), WWP2 (rs34195470), NFAT5 (rs6499244), TGFA (rs3771501), GDF5 (rs143384), were genotyped.
Hemophagocytic syndrome is a key point in the pathogenesis of severe forms of multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19 in children (MIS-C). The factors associated with hemophagocytosis in patients with MIS-C were assessed in the present study of 94 boys and 64 girls ranging in age from 4 months to 17 years, each of whose HScore was calculated. In accordance with a previous analysis, patients with HScore ≤ 91 ( = 79) and HScore > 91 ( = 79) were compared.

This systematic review aimed to establish the optimal daily duration of compression treatment. A systematic search of CENTRAL and MEDLINE was performed to identify RCTs, non-RCTs, reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and guidelines evaluating the use of compression regimens in the treatment of varicose veins.
