The authors present two technical modalities for solving extensive defects of the duodenal wall which occurred during surgery for large duodenal ulcers, which in one case involved the entire anterior part of D1-D2. In another case the duodenal wall defect was due to tumoral invasion by cancer of the hepatic angle of the colon. The solution consisted in duodenoplasty with excluded intestinal loop in "Y", in the first case, and duodenoplasty on an omega loop associated with GEP in the second case.

In connection with 7 observations of acute traumatic pancreatitis the authors review the data published in the specialized literature as well as their personal experience. A series of aspects are discussed, such as the frequency, the mechanisms involved in the determination of the phenomena, clinical and diagnostic aspects, as well as the therapeutic attitude. The importance of functions is stressed, combined with peritoneal flooding, and dosage of amylases in the fluid obtained in view of making an early diagnosis, and for an efficient therapy, in most of the cases of the surgical type.

The authors carried out a study of some pathogenic mechanisms related to the development of acute renal failure in animals following pancreatitis-induced shock. The study was made in 110 white rats in which acute pancreatitis was induced experimentally, and the results were compared with those obtained in a control lot of 40 rats. The behaviour of some biochemical parameters was investigated (cathecholamines, acid phosphatases, catepsine, aminoacids and polypeptides), in tissue homogenates (liver, intestine and kidney), and in the serum.
