Depressive Anxiety Symptoms in Hospitalized Children with Chronic Illness during the First Italian COVID-19 Lockdown.

COVID-19 is continuing to spread around the world, having a direct impact on people's daily lives and health. Although the knowledge of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in the general population is now well established, there is less information on its effect on specific and vulnerable populations, such as children with chronic illness (CI). We conducted a multi-centered cross-sectional study among pediatric patients in six public children's hospitals in Italy during the first lockdown, with the aim of assessing the proportion of children with CI presenting anxiety and depressive symptoms, and the clinical and demographic characteristics affecting such symptomatology.

Antiviral and immunomodulatory interferon-beta in high-risk COVID-19 patients: a structured summary of a study protocol for a randomised controlled trial.

Objectives: The primary objective of the study is to demonstrate the efficacy of low-dose IFN-β in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 recently infected elderly patients to progress towards severe COVID-19 versus control group within 28 days. Secondary objectives are: 1) To assess the reduction in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission in patients treated with IFN-β versus control group within 28 days of randomization 2) To assess the reduction in number of deaths in IFN- β compared to control group (day 28) 3) To evaluate the increase in proportion of participants returning to negative SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR in IFN-β -treated versus control group at Day 14 and Day 28 4) To assess the increase in SARS-CoV-2-specific binding antibody titers in IFN-β compared to control group (day 28) 5) To assess the safety of IFN-β -treated patients versus control group TRIAL DESIGN: Randomized, Open-Label, Controlled, Superiority Phase II Study. Patients, who satisfy all inclusion criteria and no exclusion criteria, will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups in a ratio 2:1 (IFN-treated versus control patients).

[Duodenal villous adenoma: a case report].

Small bowel tumours are rare neoplasms representing just 1% of all the gastrointestal tract lesions. Adenomas are the benign forms which, developing in the duodenum, tend to localize in periampullary region, with high incidence of malignant degeneration. The authors report a case of a fifty-five-years old woman with a periampullary villous adenoma.

[Pseudomyxoma peritonei associated with mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix].

The authors report a case of a male 86 years old patient with peritoneal pseudomyxoma associated to cystoadenoma of the appendix. Preoperative CT scan showed the presence of a mass in the appendiceal site containing a gelatinous fluid collection and calcifications. Notwithstanding, diagnosis of pseudomyxoma was preoperatively considered less probable due to the rarity of the affection and the advanced age.

Recurrent intussusception of the sigmoid colon caused by a transanal protruding sessile tubulo-villous malignant polyp.

We report a case of a 35 year-old woman with a large malignant sessile tubulo-villous polyp of the proximal end of a dolico-sigmoid colon causing intussusception and transanal prolapsing. The diagnosis presented some difficulties being the intussusception intermittent. The clinical feature had been initially misdiagnosed for a very large bleeding polyp (5 cm in size), protruding out of the anus with a long pedicle in the rectum.
