Lymphoma and Other Lymph Node Pathologies Among Adult Patients with Lymphadenopathy in Abakaliki, Nigeria.

Introduction: Lymphadenopathy is usually due to benign or malignant conditions. It can also be local or systemic in distribution and can involve peripheral or deep-seated lymph nodes. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of lymphoma and the distribution pattern of lymph node pathologies among adult patients who presented with lymphadenopathy and its relationship with age and sex.

Federated Learning Approach for Secured Medical Recommendation in Internet of Medical Things Using Homomorphic Encryption.

The concept of Federated Learning (FL) is a distributed-based machine learning (ML) approach that trains its model using edge devices. Its focus is on maintaining privacy by transmitting gradient updates along with users' learning parameters to the global server in the process of training as well as preserving the integrity of data on the user-end of internet of medical things (IoMT) devices. Instead of a direct use of user data, the training which is performed on the global server is done on the parameters while the model modification is performed locally on IoMT devices.

Splenic injuries in native Africans: Presentation, limitations of management, and treatment outcomes in a civilian trauma service in Southeast Nigeria.

Background: Splenic trauma has emerged as a major global health burden, especially in developing nations with limited diagnostic and therapeutic facilities. The current trend toward nonoperative management (NOM) and adoption of splenic salvage whenever feasible calls for local evaluation of our current practice. The aim of this study was to document the epidemiology and outcomes of management of splenic injuries in our setting.

Surgical Capacity in Rural Southeast Nigeria: Barriers and New Opportunities.

Background: Remarkable gains have been made in global health with respect to provision of essential and emergency surgical and anesthesia care. At the same time, little has been written about the state of surgical care, or the potential strategies for scale-up of surgical services in sub-Saharan Africa, southeast Nigeria inclusive.

Objective: The aim was to document the state of surgical care at district hospitals in southeast Nigeria.

Penopubic testicular ectopia with bilateral cryptorchidism presenting as obstructed inguinal Amyand's hernia.

Testicular ectopia is an aberrant deviation of the migration of the testis from its usual path of descent into the scrotum. Of the forms of ectopic testis, the penopubic (also called pubopenile) type is one of the least common; in this case, presented as an obstructed hernia. We report a rare case of penopubic testicular ectopia with bilateral cryptorchidism in a 17-year-old boy who presented to the emergency room with right obstructed inguinal hernia.
