Calafate is a native barberry of Patagonia, used in culinary and medicinal practices since ancient times. The aim of this work was to analyze the ability of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) isolated from calafate fruits and flowers, to increase the phenolic compound concentration and antioxidant capacity as well as to inhibit metabolic-related enzymes in fermented calafate juices. The sensory attributes of the selected fermented juice were also analyzed.

Additionally, deprotonation of [CpTh(3,3-diphenylcyclopropenyl)] with 1 equiv of LDA, in the presence of 12-crown-4 or 2.2.

These riverine fast-flowing sections not only provide habitat to highly specialized fishes but also function as natural barriers hindering the movement of fish along its course. During a fish-collecting expedition in the lower Vaupés River basin in Colombia, 95 species were registered belonging to 30 families and seven orders.

Both complexes were characterized by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy. DFT calculations reveal that the C resonance in [] exhibits a deshielding of 51 ppm from spin-orbit coupling effects originating at uranium, which indicates an appreciable covalency in the U-C bonding interaction.

Selenium (Se) is an important trace element and its intake is usually lower than the daily minimum amount required for humans; hence, there is a demand on the design of Se biofortification strategies. Here, the genetic traits known to be associated with Plant-Growth Promotion (PGP) and Se biotransformation of Exiguobacterium sp.
