CHILDHOOD UNINTENTIONAL HOME INJURIES: CAREGIVER'S PERCEPTION AND PRACTICE IN URBAN AND RURAL AREAS OF PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA.

Introduction: Unintentional home injuries (UHI) pose an enormous danger to a child's well-being; therefore, understanding the variations in caregiver approaches across different settings is invaluable for targeted prevention strategies. The study aimed to assess the knowledge, perception, and practice of caregivers on UHI in children under five years of age.

Methods: The comparative cross-sectional study design with a multistage random sampling technique was utilized to select 494 caregiver/child pairs, proportionate to size, from selected communities in both rural and urban areas of Plateau State.

Socio-demographic predictors of food security among rural households in Langai district in Plateau-Nigeria: a cross-sectional study.

Introduction: household food insecurity is a critical social determinant of health globally. There is a rising global prevalence of food insecurity which affects households' access to food of adequate quantity and quality. This study assessed the level of food security and its socio-demographic determinants among rural households.

Treatment compliance and retention in care among out-patient clients in a tertiary health institution in plateau state North Central Nigeria.

Background: Compliance with prescribed treatment and retention in care are key components in the management of chronic diseases which is vital in averting the long term complications that could arise from such conditions. Failure to comply with treatment recommendations is often associated with poor retention in care. In view of this, this study was conducted to determine the level of treatment compliance and retention in care among patients with hypertension and diabetes in Jos University Teaching Hospital.

Situational analysis of orphans and vulnerable children in urban and rural communities of Plateau State.

Background: Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) are children affected by HIV and AIDS by virtue of, among others, living in a household where one or more people are ill, dying or deceased, or which fosters orphans, and children whose care givers are too ill or old to continue to care for them. They often have more health needs than their peers. This study was carried out to obtain baseline information on the needs of OVC in North-Central Nigeria as a basis for provision of relief services.

Post-graduate surgical training in Nigeria: The trainees' perspective.

Background: Quality surgical training is crucial to meeting manpower needs and creating a vibrant healthcare delivery. Feedback from trainees provides insight to understanding training challenges and needs to improve the programme. The objective of this study was to determine the challenges faced by surgical trainees and their perception of their training in Nigeria.
