Background: Schizophrenia varies greatly from person to person, mainly because of its polygenic nature. Consequently, schizophrenia patients form distinct subphenotypes of schizophrenia, with specific symptom patterns and outcomes.

Methods: This study included 4257 adults, with long-term schizophrenia (control - 8955 individuals) who were assessed for schizophrenia with potentially severe outcomes based on following criteria: disability in functional and/or physical domains before the age of 40; severe negative symptoms (present in infancy or shortly after onset); a continuous course of the disease.

Martorell hypertensive ulcer (MHU) represents a painful, difficult-to-handle condition associated with peri-pheral, subcutaneous arteriolosclerosis caused by chronic hypertensive disease. Betablockers are effective for and widely used to treat hypertensive disease but are reported to exacerbate peripheral vasoconstriction. The effect of betablockers on pre-existing arteriolosclerosis and the course of MHU is, however, unknown.

Rhizobial exopolysaccharides (EPS) may provide stabilization of membranes against external factors, as well as improved surface adhesion, but their role in interaction with legume and non-legume plants is still far from understanding. In this work, the transcriptional regulator RosR of Rhizobium ruizarguesonis, which regulates the synthesis of EPS, was overproduced in a pHC60 plasmid and expressed in the RCAM 1026 strain. This resulted in an improved production of EPS by this recombinant strain.

Ribosomal RNA (18S, 5.8S, 28S) gene clusters in genomes form regions that consist of multiple tandem repeats. They are located on a single or several pairs of chromosomes and play an important role in the formation of the nucleolus responsible for the assembly of ribosome subunits.
