A case of miriplatin-induced lung injury.

A 69-year-old man with an 8-year history of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was hospitalized for treatment of recurrent tumour. In 2010, the first transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) using miriplatin with agents (Lipiodol Ultra-Fluid) was performed and did not occur any adverse events. In 2014, since his HCC recurred, the TACE using miriplatin with agents was performed.

[A case of advanced gastric cancer with esophageal invasion treated by neoadjuvant S-1/CDDP chemotherapy].

A 75-year-old man was found, by endoscopic examination, to have type 2 advanced gastric adenocarcinoma with esophageal invasion in the cardia. Endoscopy and other modalities revealed observable esophageal invasion. To minimize surgical intervention, we treated him with S-1 and cisplatin as neoadjuvant therapy.

Shoulder surface temperature and bone scintigraphy findings in patients with rotator cuff tears.

Background: Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is one of the serious complications after surgical treatment of a rotator cuff tear. Both a measurement of body surface temperature and bone scintigraphy have been used as diagnostic tools for the early phase of CRPS.Unfortunately, few studies have been carried out that applied these methods to the patients after rotator cuff repair.

The true distal posterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysm: clinical characteristics and strategy for treatment.

Objective: A series of aneurysms located at the 4 (th) or 5 (th) segment of the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) has not been previously reported in the literature. We report six such cases and analyze their clinical characteristics and outcomes from three different treatment strategies.

Material And Methods: We reviewed six patients with a diagnosis of distal PICA aneurysm.

Detection of viable but non cultivable Escherichia coli after UV irradiation using a lytic Qbeta phage.

In order to qualify the germicidal efficacy of ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system, we generally determine the reduction of viable bacteria after UV-C irradiation. However, the simple count of viable and cultivable bacteria in usual media cannot reflect whether or not the UV dose applied to disinfect water is sufficient to inactivate bacteria. Indeed, there is a bacterial mix in the UV-treated water: dead bacteria, viable and cultivable bacteria and viable but noncultivable bacteria (VBNC).
