Oral amiodarone and propranolol in maintenance therapy of postimplantation tachycardia: An observational study.

Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) are widely used as end-stage therapy in patients with advanced heart failure, whereas implantation increases the risks of development of sustained ventricular tachycardia at the later postimplantation stage. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of orally administered amiodarone and propranolol in 3 patients with ventricular tachycardia (VT) after LVAD implantation who were resistant to initial anti-antiarrhythmic drugs. This retrospective cohort study consisted of the initial evaluation of the clinical data of 14 adult patients who underwent implantation of LVAD between January 2019 and March 2021.

Peatland groundwater level in the Indonesian maritime continent as an alert for El Niño and moderate positive Indian Ocean dipole events.

In general, it is known that extreme climatic conditions such as El Niño and positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD+) cause prolonged drought in Indonesia's tropical peatlands so that groundwater levels (GWL) drop and peat is prone to fire. However, 27 years of GWL measurements in Central Kalimantan peat forests show the opposite condition, where the lowest GWL occurs several weeks before El Niño and after IOD+ reaches its peaks. We show that the dropped sea surface temperature anomaly induced by anomalously easterly winds along the southern Java-Sumatra occurs several weeks before the GWL drop to the lowest value.

Background: Infective endocarditis (IE) is still a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among cardiovascular diseases. ENDOCARDITIS-TR study aims to evaluate the compliance of the diagnostic and therapeutic methods being used in Turkey with current guidelines.

Methods: The ENDOCARDITIS-TR trial is a multicentre, prospective, observational study consisting of patients admitted to tertiary centres with a definite diagnose of IE.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of an oral anticoagulation knowledge (OAK) test in Turkish patients on warfarin therapy at an anticoagulant outpatient clinic.

Materials And Methods: This study was conducted at an ambulatory anticoagulation clinic and included patients older than 18 years who had been using warfarin for at least six months. Patients' demographic and clinical data were collected.

Methods: The Resting HR and Real-Life Treatment Modalities in Outpatients with Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction (REALITY HF) study enrolled 1054 patients with HF and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of <40% from 16 centers.
