[[Peculiarities of operative treatment of recurrent goiter].].

Results of 20 patients with a recurrent goiter (RG) surgery were analyzed. All patients were from 37 to 73 years old. One-sided RG was in 6 patients, bilateral RG - in 14.

Peripheral arteriovenous fistula as vascular access for long-term chemotherapy.

Introduction: To provide long-term vascular access in clinical oncology peripheral forearm veins (up to 95% of patients in Ukraine), central venous access and "complete implanted vascular systems" are used most often. Many oncology patients have contraindications to catheterization of superior vena cava. Besides, exploitation of central veins is associated with potential technical and infectious complications.

[EFFECT OF CURCUMIN ON MITOCHONDRIAL FUNCTION OF CARDIOMYOCYTES WITH DOXORUBICIN-INDUCED OXIDATIVE STRESS].

We studied the effect of curcumin on the cardiomyocytes viability, processes of oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondria of cardiomyocytes, their pro- and antioxidant balance in doxorubicin-induced oxidative stress. It has been revealed that administration of doxorubicin to rats led to a significant increase in the secondary products of lipid peroxidation (TBARS) in mitochondria by 21 and H(2)0(2) by 76%, reduction of the enzymatic activity of mitochondrial Mn-SOD by 14% and intensified catalase activity by 80% compared with the control. After combined use of doxorubicin and curcumin the content of TBARS and H(2)0(2) increased by 14 and 26%, respectively, the enzymatic activity of catalase decreased by 28%, and mitochondrial Mn-SOD activity intensified by 9%.

[Investigation of efficacy of phospholipovit for correction of the hepatic encephalopathy].

This paper presents the results of clinical studies on the efficacy and safety of the drug Phospholipovit in different groups of patients, in particular with hepatic encephalopathy and with a high risk of its development (chronic alcohol intoxication). Efficacy of treatmernt was evaluated by the LNT test (link numbers test), and standard liver plasma markers (ALT, AST, GGT, AP). The LNT test in patients with encephalopathy showed better improvement after 5 days course of Phos-pholipovit than after standard therapy.
