The purpose of the current study was to examine the efficacy of e-book reading to promoting word learning among kindergarteners with specific language impairment (SLI) compared to those with typical language development (TLD). We also tested the contribution of three types of dictionary support provided in the e-book. All dictionary words were given a pictorial and auditory support while a third of them were given a short definition, a third were defined using the story content, and a third were given a combined definition.

Gastrointestinal involvement in a patient with primary amyloidosis and renal involvement in a patient with multiple myeloma were diagnosed on duodenal and ureteral brush specimens, respectively. Familiarity with the staining characteristics of amyloid should increase it as a consideration in the differential diagnosis of certain specimen types.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe regulation of progesterone receptor by 17 beta estradiol and tamoxifen in the ZR-75-1 human breast cancer cell line in defined medium is described. ZR-75-1 cells maintained in serum free hormone supplemented medium minus estradiol lack progesterone receptor activity. Readdition of estradiol to these cells leads to a marked stimulation of progesterone receptor activity (0 to greater than 100 fmols of specifically bound progesterone per million cells).
