People with HIV (PWH) smoke cigarettes at triple the rate of the general population in the US. Efforts to increase quit rates in this group have met with limited success. The nicotine metabolite ratio (NMR) has shown promise as a phenotypic marker that may be useful in selecting the most appropriate cessation treatments for people who smoke cigarettes.

Pattern recognition analyses have been adopted across sporting disciplines due to their ability to account for repeated measures and non-linear interactions of datasets, however there are limited examples of their use in injury risk prediction. This study incorporated two-years of rigorous monitoring of athletes with 1740 individual weekly data points across domains of training load, performance testing, musculoskeletal screening, and injury history parameters, to be one of the first to employ a pattern recognition approach to predict the risk factors of specific non-contact lower limb injuries in Rugby Union.

However, many species still lack multiple reference genomes and correctly aligning references to build pangenomes is challenging, limiting our ability to study this missing genomic variation in population genetics. Here, we argue that $k$-mers are a crucial stepping stone to bridging the reference-focused paradigms of population genetics with the reference-free paradigms of pangenomics.

Introduction: Follicular lymphoma is a common non-Hodgkin lymphoma that can start in a diverse array of tissues throughout the body. While the majority of patients may be able to live many years with this disease, cure remains very difficult to achieve.
Objective: We sought to investigate the impact of follicular lymphoma primary disease site in early-stage disease on patient outcomes using a large national database.
