Prevalence was studied of asthma and wheezing among children residing in Kiev 13 to 14 and 6 to 7 years old, with n = 400 in each of the above age groups using standardized ISAAC protocols. Wheezing was detected in 25.5% of children in the 13-14 group and in 29.

Children and adults with chronic ENT and bronchopulmonary infections took ribomunyl tablets (Pierre Fabre) under immunological control. Even a 3 week course led to obvious clinical improvement of their condition in acute stage. Investigation of populations and subpopulations of lymphocytes showed that ribomunyl mainly increases the number of CD3+, CD3+4+, CD3-/16+56-, CD4+25+, CD4+69+, CD56+25+.

The main parameters of gas exchange, respiration and hemodynamics have been studied in children aged 9-14 during the acute period of bronchial asthma. Two types of gas exchange disturbances (hyperreactive type characterized by O2 consumption increase, and hyporeactive one--by O2 consumption decrease) have been revealed in the beginning of the acute period. It is shown that by the end of this period the O2 consumption has normalized in children of both groups and has become the same as in in healthy ones.
