To link such sensitive data, we developed a method that is compliant with German data protection regulations and does not require written individual consent.
Methods: Our method combines a probabilistic record linkage on encrypted identifying data with 'blinded anonymisation'.
In Germany, the nationwide population-based mammography screening program (MSP) was introduced in 2005 and is full-running since 2010. By 2014, incidence rates for invasive breast cancer were very similar to those of the pre-screening era.
