Surgeon Review of 4D CT for Identification of Parathyroid Adenomas.

Background: Preoperative localization of parathyroid adenomas aids surgical planning for patients with hyperparathyroidism. This study explores the diagnostic accuracy of surgeon-reviewed 4D computed tomography (4D CT) scans for localization of parathyroid adenomas.

Methods: A retrospective review of 95 patients with hyperparathyroidism who underwent parathyroidectomy at a tertiary care center was performed.

Impact of implementing stricter criteria for blood transfusion in patients with head and neck cancer undergoing free tissue transfer.

Objective: Recent literature studying the impact of blood transfusion on outcomes in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) have shown that blood transfusions are associated with increased risk of death and higher wound infection rates. The purpose of this study was to implement a lower transfusion threshold while comparing outcomes of free flap patients following initiation of a new transfusion guideline.

Methods: A retrospective study of all patients at a tertiary care academic center who underwent free tissue transfer after HNC resection between July 17, 2007 and June 7, 2021.

Tofacitinib-Induced Acute Pancreatitis in a Patient with Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Background: Acute Pancreatitis (AP) is an uncommon complication that rarely occurs during Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). Among the varied etiologies of AP, Drug-induced Pancreatitis (DIP) remains a rare entity and a rather challenging condition. A large panel of drugs have been reported to cause pancreatitis; however, there are no cases of tofacitinib-induced pancreatitis reported in the literature.

Anthelmintic screening of Bangladeshi medicinal plants and related phytochemicals using in vitro and in silico methods: An ethnobotanical perspective.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Infections caused by parasitic worms or helminth continue to pose a great burden on human and animal health, particularly in underdeveloped tropical and subtropical countries where they are endemic. Current anthelmintic drugs present serious limitations and the emergence of drug resistance has made it increasingly challenging to combat such infections (helminthiases). In Bangladesh, medicinal plants are often used by indigenous communities for the treatment of helminthiases.

Diagnostic Delay in HPV-Related Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

 Human papillomavirus-related (HPV + ) oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) is increasing in incidence and presents diagnostic challenges given its unique clinical presentation.  The purpose of the present study is to characterize the impact of the unique clinical presentation of HPV-related OPSCC on delays in diagnosis.  Retrospective review of presenting symptoms and clinical characteristics of 284 patients with OPSCC treated from 2002-2014.
