Article Synopsis
  • Women with a history of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy face a significantly higher risk of major adverse cardiovascular events after undergoing coronary artery stenting compared to those without such a history.
  • In a study involving over 8,000 women, 13.4% reported hypertensive disorders, and after a median follow-up of 5 years, a notable percentage experienced severe cardiovascular outcomes.
  • The increased hazard rate for these women became evident after 4-8 years following the procedure, particularly impacting those with gestational hypertension.

Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), we experimentally and theoretically investigate isolated platinum phthalocyanine (PtPc) molecules adsorbed on an atomically thin NaCl(100) film vapor deposited on Au(111). We obtain good agreement between theory and constant-height STM topography. We theoretically examine why strong distortions of STM images occur as a function of distance between the molecule and the STM tip.

Introduction: During transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), the most established surgical treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic obstruction (BPO), the prostate can bleed profusely, bringing about anaemia and compromised oxygen delivery to the entire body.

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of mepivacaine and adrenaline (MA) injected into the prostate on bleeding. The primary endpoint was to measure blood loss per resected weight of prostate tissue.

We report on scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) topographs of individual metal phthalocyanines (MPc) on a thin salt (NaCl) film adsorbed on a gold substrate, at tunneling energies within the molecule's electronic transport gap. Theoretical models of increasing complexity are discussed. The calculations for MPcs adsorbed on a thin NaCl layer on Au(111) demonstrate that the STM pattern rotates with the molecule's orientations─in excellent agreement with the experimental data.

Importance: Adverse pregnancy outcomes are recognized risk enhancers for cardiovascular disease, but the prevalence of subclinical coronary atherosclerosis after these conditions is unknown.

Objective: To assess associations between history of adverse pregnancy outcomes and coronary artery disease assessed by coronary computed tomography angiography screening.

Design, Setting, And Participants: Cross-sectional study of a population-based cohort of women in Sweden (n = 10 528) with 1 or more deliveries in 1973 or later, ascertained via the Swedish National Medical Birth Register, who subsequently participated in the Swedish Cardiopulmonary Bioimage Study at age 50 to 65 (median, 57.
