Myocardial perfusion SPECT radiomic features reproducibility assessment: Impact of image reconstruction and harmonization.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) has one of the highest mortality rates in humans worldwide. Single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) provides clinicians with myocardial metabolic information non-invasively. However, there are some limitations to interpreting SPECT images performed by physicians or automatic quantitative approaches.

Machine learning based readmission and mortality prediction in heart failure patients.

This study intends to predict in-hospital and 6-month mortality, as well as 30-day and 90-day hospital readmission, using Machine Learning (ML) approach via conventional features. A total of 737 patients remained after applying the exclusion criteria to 1101 heart failure patients. Thirty-four conventional features were collected for each patient.

A case of wound infection caused by Shewanella algae in the south of Iran.

Shewanella algae was isolated from the purulent discharge in the navel area of a young male with a history of swimming in the Persian Gulf. A routine laboratory diagnosis procedure, followed by 16S rRNA gene sequence analyses, was used to avoid misidentification with other species of Shewanella. The bacterium was suscetible to ceftazidime, ciprofloxacin, nalidixic acid, nitrophorantion, amikacin, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime, gentamicin and co-trimoxazole but was resistant to amoxicillin, vancomycin, doxycycline, cephalexin, ampicillin, tetracycline, cephalothin and ceftizoxime.

Increasing antimicrobial resistance among Shigella isolates in the Bushehr, Iran.

Antibiotics are drugs used for treatment of infections caused by bacteria. Misuse and overuse of these drugs have contributed to phenomena known as antibiotic resistance. In this research, the antimicrobial resistance of the Shigella has been determined.

Effectiveness of methoprene, an insect growth regulator, against malaria vectors in Fars, Iran: a field study.

Methoprene, an insect growth regulator, was evaluated under field conditions against the main malaria vectors in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The effect of 5, 10 and 20 kg ha(-1) concentration ofmethoprene granule formulation and 100 and 200 mL ha(-1) concentration of EC formulation was measured to determine any changes in Anophelini larval abundance and IE ratio in both rice fields and artificial ponds. In artificial ponds, granular methoprene at a dose of 20 kg ha(-1) inhibited adult emergence by 77.
