Acquired Hallux Varus. Etiology, Pathology, Classification, and Treatment Algorithm. Literature Review.

Iatrogenic hallux varus is formed due to an imbalance between the bone, tendon, and ligamentous-articular structures in the first metatarsophalangeal joint (MJ), with the progression of the medial deviation of the big toe. A secondary factor is an imbalance between excessive medial tension and weakness or excessive soft tissue release of lateral capsular-ligamentous structures. The article is devoted to a rare but no less complex postoperative complication of hallux valgus deformity, acquired hallux varus.

Effect of brief social contact video compared with expert information video in changing knowledge and attitude towards psychosis patients among medical students.

Objective: Direct contact interventions are known to reduce stigma. Effects of both filmed and direct social contact were found similar in reducing stigma. This study aims to understand the effect of video intervention, especially the effects between patient-sharing video and expert information video, among the medical students.

Application of coamplification at lower denaturation temperature-PCR sequencing for early detection of antiviral drug resistance mutations of hepatitis B virus.

Nucleoside/nucleotide analogue for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is hampered by the emergence of drug resistance mutations. Conventional PCR sequencing cannot detect minor variants of <20%. We developed a modified co-amplification at lower denaturation temperature-PCR (COLD-PCR) method for the detection of HBV minority drug resistance mutations.

[Draft macronuclear genome of a ciliate Euplotes crassus].

Basic bioinformatical analysis of the draft Euplotes crassus macronuclear genome and transcriptome suggests that more than a quarter of E. crassus genes contain several exons. A large fraction of all introns is formed by "tiny" introns having length 20-30 bp.
