The present work was aimed at specifying the place of perfusion scintigraphy of the lungs in the diagnostic algorithm of pulmonary artery thromboembolism (PATE) and at determining sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the method concerned. The authors analysed the data regarding a total of 211 patients divided into two groups (Group One with an arbitrary algorithm of investigation, comprising 108 patients and Group Two with the suggested algorithm of «pulmonary roentgenography Doppler ultrasonography perfusion scintigraphy of the lungs») in clinically suspected pulmonary artery thromboembolism and scintigraphy-revealed defects of perfusion. The diagnostic complex included ECG, Doppler ultrasonography of the veins, roentgenography, perfusion scintigraphy of the lungs, and in a series of doubtful cases Echo-CG and CT angiography of the lungs.

Laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed in all the patients. The existence of a functionally "dead" gallbladder in most cases presupposes the existence of marked inflammatory and infiltrative alterations of the neck of the gallbladder, a chronic decline of liver function in patients with calculous cholecystitis complicated with mechanical jaundice and pancreatitis.

The clinical course of acute arterial aneurysm rupture and computed tomographic findings of the brain were analysed in 100 patients. Hydrocephalus was detected in 27% of cases. There was a relationship between the development of hydrocephalus and the nature of intracranial hemorrhage, the site of aneurysm, as well as the specific features of neurological symptomatology in hydrocephalus.

Positive results of the use of 99mTc-pyrophosphate in 91.9% of patients with pyoseptic foci of various sites prove a regular character of increased accumulation of this agent in abscesses and permit recommending this method as a screening test in their indefinite localization. If the foci are localized in the liver, positive scintigraphy should be supplemented by negative scintigraphy of the liver, increasing the diagnostic value of radionuclide methods.
