[Borderline mental disorders in parkinsonism patients and their drug correction].

70 patients with vascular parkinsonism (VP) were investigated. The total group of patients was divided into several groups depending upon: a) the forms of disease (with typical or atypical forms of disease), b) the different syndromes (with bradykinesia and rigidity or tremor). Borderline psychic disorders manifested as a light depression with cognitive disturbances and personality changes.

Therapy of depressions in post-stroke patients.

In a study of 90 patients with post-stroke depression the Hamilton Depression Scale was used together with a clinical psychopathological study. One group of patients was treated with amitriptyline, another with minor tranquilizers (seduxen), and the third (controls) received neither antidepressants, nor tranquilizers. Four hundred patients were studied in acute, early rehabilitation and distant periods of stroke. The investigation showed some peculiarities of psychopathology in cerebral stroke and proved their correction feasible. The data evidence that rehabilitative, psychotherapeutic and psychocorrective approaches combined with drug therapy could yield a better therapeutic result than usage of drugs only in stroke patients.
