We studied the content of corticosterone and its precursors in the adrenal glands, corticosterone in blood serum and daily urine of rats, and activity of first and second isoforms of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase in the liver and kidneys of rats after 15 daily intraperitoneal injections of 0.9% NaCl or glucocorticoid receptor blocker mifepristone in 0.9% NaCl.

[Polymorphism of the myogens locus in some representatives of sturgeons (Acipenseridae)].

This study investigates muscle proteins in Russian (Acipenser gueldensiaedtii Brandt), Siberian (Acipenser baerii Brandt), and Amur (Acipenser shrencki Brandt) sturgeons using the method of polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. A group of fractions, which is presumably the product of a polyallelic duplicated MY-1* locus, is recorded among the general pool of proteins. Data from densitometric analysis makes it possible to put forward a hypothesis about an eight-gene determination of this system of proteins.

[Prediction of metabolic syndrome development in patients with occupational diseases caused by exposure to physical factors].

To study the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) and the possibilities of predicting the likelihood of its development, the investigators examined 127 patients with lung dust pathology and vibration disease. MS was diagnosed using the ATP III (2001), IDF (2005), and All-Russian Cardiology Research Society (ARCRS) (2008) criteria. Models of an association of the likelihood of MS development with some MS criteria described by logit regression equations (a quasi-Newton estimation method) were constructed using the logit regression analysis in each nosological group.

[Molecular characteristics of the chitin-binding peroxidases of plants].

The chitin-binding ability of isoperoxidases isolated from 23 plants of different species was studied. The activation of peroxidases in a protein extract in the presence of this polysaccharide was found for 14 of the studied plants. Anionic isoperoxidases were shown to be sorbed on chitin and eluted from them with 1 M NaCl for 16 of the plant species.
