Objectives: Preterm delivery abruptly separates a baby from the placental supply of nutrients which are mostly accreted during the third trimester. The study aimed to determine the relationship between plasma levels of vitamin D in mothers and their preterm infants within the first 24 hours of life in a Nigerian population and how this is related to the intrauterine growth pattern.

Methods: This hospital-based panel study of 121 preterm infants and their mothers was carried out in three neonatal units in southwest Nigeria.

The consumption of metal-contaminated offal of animals will affect the health of humans. Thus, the research determined the concentrations of heavy metals in the offal and muscle tissues of cows, goats, and ram slaughtered at the main abattoir in Lokoja, northcentral Nigeria. Furthermore, an evaluation was carried out to assess the potential health hazards faced by the indigenous population due to the consumption of heavy metals from these animals.

The prevalence of diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) is projected to increase worldwide, which necessitates a review of the current management principles and the development of new approaches to care. The principles of management involve proper glycemic control, infection control, pressure redistribution, wound care debridement, and revascularization. Other modalities of management, such as hyperbaric oxygen therapy and negative wound pressure therapy, are also being explored.

Limosilactobacillus fermentum is an important member of the lactic acid bacteria group and holds immense potential for probiotic properties in human health and relevant industries. In this study, a comparative probiogenomic approach was applied to analyze the genome sequence of L. fermentum 3872, which was extracted from a commercially available yogurt sample, along with 20 different publicly available strains.
