Botulinum injection is a well-known non-surgical intervention utilized in the management of myofascial pain syndrome (MPS). However, sparse evidence exists regarding the utility of ultrasound guidance of injectate or lidocaine as a predictive marker of patient response to botulinum toxin A (BTX-A). A 39-year-old male active duty service member demonstrated typical signs and symptoms of MPS.

The hippocampus, parietal cortex, and insula were measured on volumetric magnetic resonance imaging to determine whether patients with early Alzheimer's disease had significantly more atrophy than healthy controls. To determine whether the atrophy is limited to certain cortical regions, the striate cortex was measured because this area is not usually neuropathologically involved early in Alzheimer's disease. Eight mildly to moderately impaired patients who met National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke-Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association criteria for probable Alzheimer's disease and eight controls who matched for age, gender, and educational level were studied.

In this study we compared the cortical morphology in six children with Angelman and four with Prader-Willi syndrome. These two syndromes are of special interest because, although they are both caused by deletions in the same region of chromosome 15, Angelman children are far more severely affected, and do not speak.

We have observed there is often a significant delayed contrast enhancement on this postoperative scan, and the pattern of this enhancement frequently differs from the preoperative pattern. To assess these changes and to determine if they are related to lesion pathology or other clinical factors, the pre- and postoperative scans of 89 patients who underwent stereotactic biopsies were reviewed.
