Socioeconomic Disadvantage Is Associated With Delays in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction and Greater Rates of Concomitant Meniscectomies.

Purpose: To analyze the association between patients' neighborhood level of socioeconomic disadvantage according to their Area Deprivation Index (ADI) and (1) delays between anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), and (2) concomitant knee injuries at the time of treatment.

Methods: This was a retrospective study of consecutive patients aged 18 years or older who underwent an ACLR at a single academic institution between 2015 and 2021. Each patient's home address was mapped to obtain their ADI to determine their level of socioeconomic disadvantage.

Introduction: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder commonly associated with behavioral challenges. There are few evidence based pharmacological interventions available for the treatment of behavioral symptoms associated with ASD. Cannabidiol (CBD), the non-psychoactive component of cannabis, has potential neuroprotective, antiepileptic, anxiolytic, and antipsychotic effects and may be useful in treating the behavioral symptoms of ASD.

A systematic review of the current status of carbapenem resistance in Nigeria: Its public health implication for national intervention.

Carbapenem antibiotics are considered one of the most effective and the last-resort antibiotics for the treatment of infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. However, with the advent of carbapenem resistance, it becomes obvious that quality health-care delivery will be hampered if adequate measure is not put in place. This review assessed the prevalence of carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (CR-GNB) and also provided an up-to-date position on carbapenem resistance (CR) in Nigeria.

Introduction: The "Global strategy on human resources for health: Workforce 2030" was adopted by the 69th World Health Assembly. Among its objectives is the strengthening of data on human resources for health, to inform evidence-based policy decisions. These data include the course completion and drop-out rates, to inform mechanisms that support recruitment and retention.

COVID-19 pandemic: an assessment of risk perception and the implementation of precautionary measures in a group of primary care workers in Nigeria.

Introduction: The world is currently faced with the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic, with healthcare workers at high risk of contracting infection. This study assessed the risk perception of COVID-19 and practice of precautionary measures against its spread by primary care workers.

Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study of primary care workers in the General Practice Clinic (GPC) of University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Nigeria, sub-Saharan Africa.
