In the scope of the verification regime of the Comprehensive nuclear Test Ban Treaty, the CEA/DAM is developing new β-γ measurement systems. In order to improve the analysis methods at low statistics, a new multiplicative spectral unmixing algorithm for full-spectrum analysis was tested on a particular setup for different types of mixtures. The reconstructed activities for simulated spectra and the characteristic limits found with this algorithm are compared to the classic ROI analysis method.

The SPALAX-NG is a new-generation system that is designed to detect radioactive xenon at trace levels in the atmosphere following a nuclear explosion or civilian source release. This new system formed part of a validation program led by the Provisional Technical Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) Organization. In this study, the first SPALAX-NG unit was tested for six months between October 2018 and April 2019 at the CEA/DIF premises near Paris, France.

An ultra-compact and unshielded spectrometer for analysis of atmospheric radioxenons has been developed. This system works at ambient temperature and has a 58 cm inner active volume. Atmospheric radioxenons activities are determined with electron/photon coincidence technique using both NaI(Tl) detector and large pixellized Si-PIN detector.
