Gamma Knife Radiosurgery for Arteriovenous Malformations: Clinical Series of 199 Patients.

Aim: Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVM) are pathological connections between arteries and veins without capillaries. Stereotactic radiosurgery (RS) is a proven and accepted treatment method for cerebral AVMs. Our objective was to analyze the factors influencing the clinical outcome in patients suffering from AVMs.

Treatment of breast abscesses with ultrasound-guided aspiration and irrigation in the emergency setting.

The purpose of our study was to describe the efficacy of ultrasound (US)-guided aspiration and intracavitary irrigation of breast abscesses in the emergency setting. Ten cases of mastitis clinically suspected of having a breast abscess were referred from the emergency department for breast ultrasound. Eleven abscesses depicted at US were treated with US-guided aspiration and intracavitary irrigation.

Vertebral hemangioma presenting with intermittent claudication.

The case of a patient with vertebral hemangioma and unusual clinical presentation is reported, with an attempt to explain these unusual clinical complaints. Vertebral hemangioma is a common and often asymptomatic tumor. Neurologic symptoms may appear due to pressure on the neural tissue caused by extraosseous extension.
