Tuned Aperture Computed Tomography or TACT is a relatively new technique that transforms correlated two-dimensional images into a three-dimensional display. Associating TACT with digital subtraction radiography (TACT-DSR) may enhance its use in the detection of diseases. This study aims to assess observer performance in the task of detecting simulated bone-gain in periodontal defects, comparing conventional and TACT DSR.

Objectives: To investigate the influence of angular disparity on observer detection of simulated bone gain in digital subtraction radiography using tuned-aperture computed tomography (TACT).

Materials And Methods: Simulated periodontal defects were created in interproximal and buccal or lingual (tooth-obscured) areas of the premolar and molar regions of a dry human skull. Radiographs were obtained before and after known weights of amorphous bone were added to the defects to simulate bone gain.

Radiographic manifestation of clear cell odontogenic tumor.

Clear cell odontogenic tumors are uncommon, only 20 cases having been reported in the literature. We report a case that presented with unique radiographic manifestations over a period of 12 years; no similar case has been reported to date. Documentation of the malignant nature of the condition and of the range of clinical and radiographic manifestations with which this neoplasm can present provides useful insight into its pathogenesis and progression.
