Objective: To standardize a method for H MRS intramuscular absolute quantification of carnosine in the thigh, using a surface coil and water as internal reference.

Materials And Methods: Carnosine spectra were acquired in phantoms (5, 10, and 15 mM) as well as in the right gastrocnemius medialis (GM) and right vastus lateralis (VLM) muscles of young team sports athletes, using volume (VC) and surface (SC) coils on a 3 T scanner, with the same receiver gain. Water spectra were used as internal reference for the absolute quantification of carnosine.

Receptor-interacting protein 2 (RIP2) is a kinase that mediates signaling downstream of the bacterial peptidoglycan sensors NOD1 and NOD2. Genetic loss or pharmaceutical inhibition of RIP2 has been shown to be beneficial in multiple inflammatory disease models with the effects largely attributed to reducing proinflammatory signaling downstream of peptidoglycan recognition. However, given the widespread expression of this kinase and its reported interactions with numerous other proteins, it is possible that RIP2 may also function in roles outside of peptidoglycan sensing.

Chlamydia trachomatis entry into host cells is mediated by pathogen-directed remodeling of the actin cytoskeleton. The chlamydial type III secreted effector, translocated actin recruiting phosphoprotein (Tarp), has been implicated in the recruitment of actin to the site of internalization. Tarp harbors G-actin binding and proline rich domains required for Tarp-mediated actin nucleation as well as unique F-actin binding domains implicated in the formation of actin bundles.
