Consultation Requests and Satisfaction with a Telehealth Network for Epilepsy: Longitudinal Analysis of the Epilepsy Network Hessen Evaluation.

Telemedicine improves access to specialized medical expertise, as required for paroxysmal disorders. The Epilepsy Network Hessen Evaluation (ENHE) is a pilot cross-sectoral teleconsultation network connecting primary neurologists and pediatricians with epilepsy centers in Hessen, a federal German state. We prospectively and longitudinally evaluated telehealthcare in the ENHE.

Randomized control trial of a holographic needle guidance technique for thoracic epidural placement.

Introduction: The Microsoft HoloLens is a head-mounted mixed reality device, which allows for overlaying hologram-like computer-generated elements onto the real world. This technology can be combined with preprocedural ultrasound during thoracic epidural placement to create a visual of the ideal needle angulation and trajectory in the users' field of view. This could result in a technically easier and potentially safer alternative to traditional blind landmark techniques.

Cholesterol 24-hydroxylase at the choroid plexus contributes to brain immune homeostasis.

The choroid plexus (CP) plays a key role in remotely controlling brain function in health, aging, and disease. Here, we report that CP epithelial cells express the brain-specific cholesterol 24-hydroxylase (CYP46A1) and that its levels are decreased under different mouse and human brain conditions, including amyloidosis, aging, and SARS-CoV-2 infection. Using primary mouse CP cell cultures, we demonstrate that the enzymatic product of CYP46A1, 24(S)-hydroxycholesterol, downregulates inflammatory transcriptomic signatures within the CP, found here to be elevated across multiple neurological conditions.

The partitioning of primary alcohols into the aggregates of gemini amphiphiles determined from diffusion NMR experiments.

The partition constants (-values) of primary alcohols in solutions containing aggregates of symmetric gemini surfactants of the family ,'-dimethyl, -dialkyl-,-alkanediammonium dibromide (m-s-m = symmetric gemini surfactants) have been computed from the measured values of their diffusion coefficients obtained from NMR-diffusion experiments. From the -values, both mole-fraction and concentration-based partition coefficients and Gibbs energies of transfer for the alcohols from the bulk DO phase to the gemini aggregate phase have been calculated. As expected, the Gibbs energy of transfer decreased linearly with an increase in the alcohol carbon length for each of the primary alcohol/gemini amphiphile series studied.

Yet, the mechanisms by which tumors affect the host metabolism are unclear. We find that systemic inflammation induced by cancer leads to liver infiltration of myeloid cells at early extrahepatic carcinogenesis.
