Anatomic and functional results of laparoscopic-perineal neovagina construction by sigmoid colpoplasty in women with Rokitansky's syndrome.

Background: The Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser (MRKH) syndrome is a rare congenital cause of primary amenorrhea, due to utero-vaginal agenesis. Several surgical techniques have been used to create a neovagina. Neovagina construction with a sigmoid graft appears to be the best option, as it offers adequate length and natural lubrication, allowing early intercourse.

[Menopausal hormone replacement therapy and prevention of neurologic complications].

Aging of the population in industrialized countries, as a result of increased life expectancy, is associated with an increased risk of neurological diseases. Prevention of disability is one of the objectives of hormone replacement therapy of menopause (HRTM). Based on a review of the literature, the authors present the benefits of HRTM in terms of prevention of neurological complications.

[Pelvic pain and endometriosis].

Endometriosis is defined by the presence outside the uterine cavity of tissue histologically and functionally similar to the endometrium. Endometriosis consists of glands and an underlying cytogenic stroma. This ectopic tissue can react to hormonal stimulation: estrogens and progesterone (growth, decidualisation, withdrawal bleeding).

[The value of the administration of prostaglandin E2 on the biodegradable support of the maturation of the cervix uteri and the induction of labor].

We report the results of a prospective randomized study concerning the effects of prostaglandin E2 on cervical ripening and/or induction of labour. Between August 1988 and April 1989, 100 women underwent induction of labour for medical reasons. These women were divided into 4 groups.
