Role of the Glymphatic System in Alzheimer's Disease and Treatment Approaches: A Narrative Review.

Currently, there is unavailability of disease-modifying medication for Alzheimer's disease (AD), a debilitating neurological disorder. The pathogenesis of AD appears to be complex and could be influenced by the glymphatic system present in the central nervous system (CNS). Amyloid-beta (Aβ) and other metabolic wastes are eliminated from the brain interstitium by the glymphatic system, which encompasses perivascular channels and astroglial cells.

Purpose Of Review: This review attempts to understand the reasons for the successes and failures of the two novel strategies that have slowly begun to emerge as potential counters for anti-malarial drug resistance-"Triple Combination Therapy" and "Drug Cycling."

Recent Findings: Recent reports have suggested that increasing the heterogeneity within the parasite's environment, both at an individual and the population level, may help raise the probabilistic barrier of development of resistance in the parasite. The encouraging results following the implementation of a few experimental triple combination therapies like atovaquone-proguanil-artesunate along with the re-emergence of chloroquine sensitive Plasmodium falciparum parasites in the sub-Saharan African nations have re-kindled mankind's hope of curbing anti-malarial drug resistance.

Introduction: Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) are arguably among the most commonly prescribed drugs in clinical practice, either as part of treatment or prophylaxis. Many clinicians prescribe these drugs as part of any prescription, without a proper rationale. Recent studies done outside India have shown that these drugs are not entirely safe, and they can result in the development of acute renal injury.
