The Dromedary camel has a remarkable history amongst cultures across Asia and northern Africa, serving multiple purposes ranging from providing milk, textiles, racing, and acting as pack animals. Recent genetic studies have revealed that many dromedaries are genetically homogenous, indicating that they do not represent different breeds, advocating for camel 'type' over camel 'breed'. In this study, we leveraged whole genome sequencing (WGS) to sequence 15 Jordanian Alia camels for the first time, alongside 9 Jordanian mixed camels from diverse locations within the country.

The efficacy of natamycin (Fruitgard Nat 20) and Proallium (an extract of allium including propyl thiosulfinate oxide (PTSO)) against sour rot and green mold in mandarins was evaluated under controlled and commercial conditions. The study involved artificial inoculation of Nova, Tango, Orri, Afourer, Murcott, and Nules Clementine mandarins with isolates of resistant to imazalil and pyrimethanil and an isolate of susceptible to propiconazole fungicides. Under laboratory conditions, natamycin applied at 1500 µg mL significantly reduced green mold by 61.

Circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) allows genotyping and minimal residual disease (MRD) detection in lymphomas. Using a next-generation sequencing (NGS) approach (EuroClonality-NDC), we evaluated the clinical and prognostic value of ctDNA in a series of R-CHOP-treated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients at baseline (n = 68) and after two cycles (n = 59), monitored by metabolic imaging (positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography [PET/CT]). A molecular marker was identified in 61/68 (90%) ctDNA samples at diagnosis.

Article Synopsis
  • B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) often starts quietly in children without obvious symptoms.
  • Researchers found that stress to the immune system can cause changes in certain B cells, pushing them towards developing leukemia.
  • The study shows that a protein called Myd88 is important in preventing leukemia; when its levels drop, more leukemia cases happen, but triggering a different immune signal can delay the disease.

(A) Correlation matrix of unsupervised co-regulated genes, based on the 208 genes included in the NanoString platform. Some of the clusters of co-regulated genes corresponded to the following: Inflammatory cells; Epstein-Barr virus; B-cells; Cytotoxic T-cells; T-cells; and Proliferation. (B) Analysis of genomic alterations by targeted sequencing.
