Purpose: Patients in neurologic intensive care unit (NICU) often undergo inferior vena cava filter (IVCF) placement for venous thrombotic events. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of IVCF, filter retrieval, and mortality among patients that received IVCF in NICU.
Materials And Methods: In this single institutional, noncomparative, retrospective study, all patients who were admitted to NICU and underwent IVCF placement from April 2015 to December 2020 were reviewed.
Background: The emergence of OXA-type beta-lactamases has become a significant threat to public healthcare systems and may lead to prolonged hospital stays and increased mortality rates among affected patients. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of oxacillinase resistance (OXA) genes in multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative bacteria.
Methods: One hundred and six clinical isolates were collected from a stock of Gram-negative isolates and were identified and tested for antibiotic susceptibility and presence of OXA genes using polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
Metagenomic read classification is a fundamental task in computational biology, yet it remains challenging due to the scale, diversity, and complexity of sequencing datasets. We propose a novel, lossless, run-length compressed index that enables efficient multi-class metagenomic classification in ( ) space, based on the move structure. Our method identifies all super-maximal exact matches (SMEMs) of length at least between a read and the reference dataset and associates each SMEM with one class identifier using a sampled tag array.

Background: Rabies is a preventable viral zoonotic disease with a near 100% case fatality rate once clinical symptoms appear. In Sudan, rabies remains a significant public health concern, exacerbated by limited resources and the ongoing armed conflict. Physicians play a critical role in rabies prevention and management, yet their knowledge and adherence to updated clinical guidelines remain poorly understood.
