Introduction: In two Korean and Italian studies, the adherence rate (AR) to ASSLD 2005 guidelines in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) was 60%. In a US study, the AR to American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) 2005 guidelines was 73.3%, 26.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLactobacillus crispatus is a well-established probiotic with antimicrobial activity against pathogens across several niches of the human body generally attributed to the production of bacteriostatic molecules, including hydrogen peroxide and lactic acid. Here, we show that the cell-free supernatants of clinical isolates of L. crispatus harbor robust bactericidal activity.

Materials And Methods: Women ≥18 years old who responded "yes" to "do you feel you have a UTI?" agreed to urethral catheterization and followup. Symptoms were assessed using the validated UTI Symptom Assessment (UTISA) questionnaire.
Despite recent advances in treatment with multidrug chemotherapy regimens, outcomes of patients with advanced pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remain very poor. Treatment with targeted therapies has shown marginal benefits due to intrinsic or acquired resistance. Actionable mutations, while detected infrequently in patients with PDAC, are becoming increasingly used in personalized medicine.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAt 9%, and 2% when diagnosed at advanced stage, the 5-year relative survival rate for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (pdac) is the lowest of any cancer. The currently approved treatment options for metastatic pdac in the United States are folfirinox [irinotecan-fluorouracil (5fu)-leucovorin (lv)-oxaliplatin], gemcitabine-nab-paclitaxel, and liposomal irinotecan plus 5fu-lv. Liposomal irinotecan is a novel formulation of irinotecan encapsulated within a lipid bilayer, which favours local metabolic activation.
