[Intrafamily kidney transplantation. Investigation of its influence on the donor's life and his or her relationship with the recipient].

Introduction: Quality of life is a vital aspect to be considered in connection with intrafamily kidney transplantations. It is important that the donor be both physically and mentally well after the donation. It is also crucial that the relationship between the donor and recipient not change for the worse.

Adjuvant Bestatin immunotherapy in patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. Clinical results of a randomized trial.

The first clinical results of an ongoing, prospective trial to determine the value of adjuvant Bestatin immunotherapy in the management of bladder cancer are presented. Patients with nonmetastatic transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder, scheduled for full dose local radiation therapy (64 Gy), were randomly allocated to adjuvant oral Bestatin treatment (30 mg daily for at least 1 year), starting at completion of irradiation, or no Bestatin. The longest follow-up period of the 151 evaluable patients is 6 years.

Flupenthixol decanoate in recurrent manic-depressive illness. A comparison with lithium.

The hypothesis that flupenthixol decanoate may serve as an alternative to prophylactically administered lithium in recurrent manic-depressive illness, bipolar and unipolar type, was tested in two groups of patients. In Group I the patients were allocated randomly to maintenance treatment with either lithium or flupenthixol decanoate. The patients in Group II had previously been given lithium and were switched to flupenthixol decanoate because of unsatisfactory prophylactic effect of lithium, doubtful tablet compliance, troublesome side effects, or fear of later harmful effects.

Chlorprothixene was the first neuroleptic of the thioxanthene group and was marketed in 1959 under the trade names of Taractan and Truxal. Since then 20 years have passed and the authors were of the opinion that it would be opportune to study the literature published during these 20 years. They perused 801 publications, hereof 542 clinical works.
