Enantiornithes are the most successful early-diverging avian clade, their fossils revealing important information regarding the structure of Cretaceous avifaunas and the parallel refinement of flight alongside the ornithuromorph lineage that includes modern birds. The most diverse recognized family of Early Cretaceous enantiornithines is the Bohaiornithidae, known from the Jehol Biota in northeastern China. Members of this clade enhance our understanding of intraclade morphological diversity and elucidate the independent evolution of this unique lineage.

Maintenance therapy after first-line platinum-based chemotherapy in gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas: A literature review.

Neuroendocrine carcinomas are rare and aggressive malignancies, often diagnosed at advanced stages, leading to poor prognosis. Platinum-based chemotherapy is the standard first-line treatment for advanced neuroendocrine carcinomas; however after achieving response no consensus exists on maintenance therapies and the results are inconsistent. Climate change has emerged as a key threat to biodiversity, leading to broad-scale shifts in distributions of marine and terrestrial species as they attempt to track thermally suitable habitat. Agrarian Diet Improves Metabolic Health in HIV-positive Men with -Rich Microbiomes: Results from a Randomized Trial.

This study aimed to assess the impact a high-fiber/low-fat agrarian diet (AD) on inflammation and metabolic outcomes in HIV positive men who have sex with men (MSM). Since the gut microbiome of MSM has been shown to have a striking resemblance to individuals in agrarian cultures, including being -rich and -poor, we hypothesized that they would have particularly strong health benefits from consumption of a diet matched to their microbiome type. Sixty-six participants, including 36 HIV-positive MSM (HIV(+)MSM), 21 HIV-negative MSM, and 9 HIV negative men who have sex with women were randomized to either an AD or a high-fat western diet (WD) for four weeks.

SARS-CoV-2 Mac1 promotes virus replication in the presence of interferon (IFN) and blocks the production of IFN, though the mechanisms by which it mediates these functions remain unknown.

Synchronous motion of the Easter mantle plume and the East Pacific Rise.

The Easter mantle plume has produced one of the longest hotspot tracks in the Pacific Ocean. While previous studies have focused on the eastern side extending across the Nazca Plate, we use Ar/Ar isotopic and geochemical data to investigate the less explored western side around the Easter Microplate. We propose a dynamic model in which a deeper (600 km-depth), less buoyant mantle exerts a westward force on the East Pacific Rise (EPR), while a more buoyant plume region drives Easter hotspot volcanism and a localised acceleration in seafloor spreading.
