Background: COVID-19 is a strong risk factor for venous thromboembolism (VTE). Few studies have evaluated the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccination in preventing hospitalization for COVID-19 with VTE.
Methods: Adults hospitalized at 21 sites between March 2021 and October 2022 with symptoms of acute respiratory illness were assessed for COVID-19, completion of the original monovalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccination series, and VTE.
Purpose Of Review: This article explores the unique intersection of the challenges confronting ambulatory anesthesiology education and charts a trajectory forward. The proportion of ambulatory, nonoperating room (NORA), and office-based surgical cases continues to rise; however, the requirements for trainees in these settings have remained static. The rapid evolution of the field combined with a limited workforce also makes continuing education essential, and we discuss the current and future states of ambulatory anesthesia education.

Elevated FBG has been associated with multiple adverse clinical outcomes, including increased risk for type 2 diabetes and various cancers. Therefore, G6PC1 and G6PC2 inhibitors that lower FBG may be of prophylactic value for the prevention of multiple conditions.

Objectives: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a vaso-occlusive treatment for a number of chorioretinal vascular pathologies. We aimed to retrospectively analyse efficiency and safety of PDT for different conditions (central serous retinopathy (CSR), age-related macular degeneration (AMD), macular telangiectasia type 2 and choroidal hemangioma) and with different verteporfin parameters.
Methods: Clinical parameters were ascertained from the medical records of patients undergoing PDT over a 6-year period.
In the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) lumen, glucose-6-phosphatase catalytic subunit 1 and 2 (G6PC1; G6PC2) hydrolyze glucose-6-phosphate (G6P) to glucose and inorganic phosphate whereas hexose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (H6PD) hydrolyzes G6P to 6-phosphogluconate (6PG) in a reaction that generates NADPH. 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (HSD11B1) utilizes this NADPH to convert inactive cortisone to cortisol. HSD11B1 inhibitors improve insulin sensitivity whereas G6PC inhibitors are predicted to lower fasting blood glucose (FBG).

However, the native long-range interactions between the atoms complicate experimental analysis and precise theoretical understanding of these systems. Here we use new tensor network algorithms capable of including all long-range interactions to study the ground state phase diagram of Rydberg atoms in a geometrically unfrustrated square lattice array.
