Background: The mentalization-based perspective of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) underscores fluctuating interpersonal functionality, believed to arise from suboptimal mentalization modes, including hyper- and hypomentalizing. The connection between ineffective mentalizing and specific BPD challenges remains ambiguous. Network theory offers a unique means to investigate the hypothesis that distinct yet interconnected mental challenges ('symptoms') construct 'disorders' through their continuous mutual interactions.

Detecting psychometric and diagnostic performance of the RU_SATED v2.0 multidimensional sleep health scale in community-dwelling adults combining exploratory graph analysis and ROC analysis.

Objective: The RU_SATED scale is increasingly used across the globe to measure sleep health. However, there is a lack of consensus around its psychometric and diagnostic performance. We conducted an empirical investigation into the psychometrics of the Chinese version of the RU_SATED (RU_SATED-C) scale, with a focus on structural validity and diagnostic performance.

Failed ulnar nerve surgery due to persistent unrecognized snapping triceps from cubitus varus due to a distal humeral malunion in an adult: illustrative case.

Background: Snapping triceps is a dynamic condition in which a portion of the medial head of the triceps dislocates over the medial epicondyle during flexion or extension. Pushed by the triceps, the ulnar nerve typically also dislocates over the medial epicondyle, causing neuropathy. Posttraumatic cubitus varus deformities resulting from pediatric supracondylar fractures have been associated with snapping triceps.

Performance of the DASF compared to other combinations of OECD NAMs for eye hazard identification of surfactants.

Currently, the OECD has adopted three defined approaches (DAs) for eye hazard identification of non-surfactant liquids and solids (TG 467) according to the three UN GHS categories. We are now expanding the applicability domain with a new DA for chemicals having surfactant properties (DASF). It is based on a combination of recombinant human cornea-like epithelium test methods (TG 492: EpiOcular™ EIT or SkinEthic™ HCE EIT) and a modification of the Short Time Exposure (TG 491) method.

The identity of clinical associates in psychology: a cross sectional, national survey.

Background: The Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) is a new psychological profession within the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom. This paper considers the processes developing the CAPs' professional identity, specifically how their roles are embedded within services.

Methods: This study utilised an online survey of CAPs and all academic, clinical and managerial staff involved with CAPs.

Simultaneous bilateral total hip arthroplasty-a survey of Irish orthopaedic surgeons' practice.

Background: Bilateral total hip arthroplasty may be performed simultaneously (SIMTHA) or in two staged operations.

Aim: To assess attitudes towards and utilization of SIMTHA in Irish orthopaedic practice, and to assess patient and surgeon factors which are associated with the management of bilateral hip arthritis.

Methods: A 16-question electronic survey (Google Forms) was distributed via email to consultant Irish orthopaedic surgeons who perform total hip arthroplasty, followed by a reminder 1 month later.

The sinus tarsi approach is increasingly growing in popularity for open reduction internal fixation of calcaneus fractures. Multiple studies have demonstrated favorable short-term results compared to the traditional extensile L incision, however long-term data over 5 years is currently limited to a single retrospective case series. Following local ethical approval, all patients who had completed a minimum 5 years from time of operation were contacted with a Standardized Telephone Questionnaire completed.

Predicting post-treatment symptom severity for adults receiving psychological therapy in routine care for generalised anxiety disorder: a machine learning approach.

Approximately half of generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) patients do not recover from first-line treatments, and no validated prediction models exist to inform individuals or clinicians of potential treatment benefits. This study aimed to develop and validate an accurate and explainable prediction model of post-treatment GAD symptom severity. Data from adults receiving treatment for GAD in eight Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services (n=15,859) were separated into training, validation and holdout datasets.

Effective goal dynamics require flexible and generalizable pursuit skills. Supporting successful goal pursuit requires a perpetually adapting intervention responsive to internal states.

Printer parameters such as layer height and infill density can greatly impact the mechanical properties and quality of the printed parts. Nature-based biopsychosocial resilience: An integrative theoretical framework for research on nature and health.

Nature-based solutions including urban forests and wetlands can help communities cope better with climate change and other environmental stressors by enhancing social-ecological resilience. Natural ecosystems, settings, elements and affordances can also help individuals become more personally resilient to a variety of stressors, although the mechanisms underpinning individual-level nature-based resilience, and their relations to social-ecological resilience, are not well articulated. We propose 'nature-based biopsychosocial resilience theory' (NBRT) to address these gaps.

Fluorescent Dissolved Organic Matter Components as Surrogates for Disinfection Byproduct Formation in Drinking Water: A Critical Review.

Disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation, prediction, and minimization are critical challenges facing the drinking water treatment industry worldwide where chemical disinfection is required to inactivate pathogenic microorganisms. Fluorescence excitation-emission matrices-parallel factor analysis (EEM-PARAFAC) is used to characterize and quantify fluorescent dissolved organic matter (FDOM) components in aquatic systems and may offer considerable promise as a low-cost optical surrogate for DBP formation in treated drinking waters. However, the global utility of this approach for quantification and prediction of specific DBP classes or species has not been widely explored to date.

Shoulder arthroplasty in the setting of previous stabilization surgery: a systematic review of matched case control studies at minimum 2 years follow-up.

Background: Anterior shoulder instability causes considerable patient morbidity and the volume of shoulder stabilization surgery being performed annually is rising. Despite stabilization surgery, instability arthropathy in the long-term may arise requiring consideration of shoulder arthroplasty. This study evaluated the outcomes of shoulder arthroplasty following previous stabilization surgery with their associated changes in bony anatomy or soft tissue structure.

An examination of the influence of drained peatlands on regional stream water chemistry.

Unlabelled: Currently, 50% of Irish rivers do not meet water quality standards, with many declining due to numerous pressures, including peatland degradation. This study examines stream water quality in the Irish midlands, a region where raised bogs have been all historically disturbed to various extent and the majority drained for industrial or domestic peat extraction. For the first time, we provide in-depth analysis of stream water chemistry within a heavily modified bog landscape.

There is conflicting evidence whether improvements in sleep might impact depressive symptoms, or whether treating the core depressive symptoms might improve sleep disturbance. This study explored the bi-directional impact of sleep and depressive symptom change among individuals receiving psychological treatment.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common type of primary liver cancer, and has become one of the most lethal malignancies in the world. Although chemotherapy remains a cornerstone of cancer therapy, the number of chemotherapeutic drugs approved for HCC is low, and emerging therapeutics are needed. Melarsoprol (MEL) is an arsenic-containing drug, and has been applied in the treatment of human African trypanosomiasis at the late stage.

Cyclodextrin-Based Nanoparticles for Delivery of Antisense Oligonucleotides Targeting Huntingtin.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive inherited neurodegenerative disease caused by a CAG repeat expansion in the huntingtin gene, which is translated into the pathologic mutant huntingtin (mHTT) protein. Despite the great potential of HTT lowering strategies and the numerous antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) in pre- and clinical trials, sustained silencing of mHTT has not been achieved. As a strategy to improve ASO delivery, cyclodextrin-based nanoparticles (CDs) offer a promising approach.

Symptom-specific effects of counselling for depression compared to cognitive-behavioural therapy.

Background: Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and counselling for depression (CfD) are recommended first-line treatments for depression. While they approach change differently, there is little understanding of the impact those approaches have on change during treatment.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify whether CBT and CfD target different symptoms and explore the implications of modelling choices when quantifying change during treatment.
