Understanding the real-time evolution of many-electron quantum systems is essential for studying dynamical properties in condensed matter, quantum chemistry, and complex materials, yet it poses a significant theoretical and computational challenge. Our work introduces a variational approach for fermionic time-dependent wave functions, surpassing mean-field approximations by accurately capturing many-body correlations. We employ time-dependent Jastrow factors and backflow transformations, enhanced through neural networks parameterizations.

The continued development of computational approaches to many-body ground-state problems in physics and chemistry calls for a consistent way to assess its overall progress. In this work, we introduce a metric of variational accuracy, the V-score, obtained from the variational energy and its variance. We provide an extensive curated dataset of variational calculations of many-body quantum systems, identifying cases where state-of-the-art numerical approaches show limited accuracy and future algorithms or computational platforms, such as quantum computing, could provide improved accuracy.

Although artificial neural networks have recently been proven to provide a promising new framework for constructing quantum many-body wave functions, the parametrization of a quantum wave function with non-abelian symmetries in terms of a Boltzmann machine inherently leads to biased results due to the basis dependence. We demonstrate that this problem can be overcome by sampling in the basis of irreducible representations instead of spins, for which the corresponding ansatz respects the non-abelian symmetries of the system. We apply our methodology to find the ground states of the one-dimensional antiferromagnetic Heisenberg (AFH) model with spin-1/2 and spin-1 degrees of freedom, and obtain a substantially higher accuracy than when using the s_{z} basis as an input to the neural network.

A chemical short-range order is found in single monolayer InAsSb shells, which inherit a wurtzite structure from the underlying InAs nanowire, instead of crystallizing in the energetically preferred zincblende structure. The chemical order is characterized by an anticorrelation ordering vector in the ⟨112̅0⟩ direction and arises from strong Sb-Sb repulsive interactions along the atomic chains in the ⟨112̅0⟩ direction.

Objective: This study examined the effect of nudges, inspired by the recently renewed Flemish Food Triangle, on fruit sales in a Belgian on-campus university restaurant.

Methods: In this mixed-method real-life experiment, nudges were added weekly over a period of four consecutive weeks: placement of (1) Food Triangle posters in the restaurant, (2) 'green heart' icons above the fruit stands, and (3) substitution and (4) social norm messages at the fruit stands. During baseline (no intervention) and all intervention weeks, dessert sales were registered.

The surface morphology of III-V semiconductor nanowires (NWs) protected by an arsenic cap and subsequently evaporated in ultrahigh vacuum is investigated with scanning tunneling microscopy and scanning transmission electron microscopy. We show that the changes of the surface morphology as a function of the NW composition and the nature of the seed particles are intimately related to the formation and reaction of surface point defects. Langmuir evaporation close to the congruent evaporation temperature causes the formation of vacancies which nucleate and form vacancy islands on {110} sidewalls of self-catalyzed InAs NWs.

We observe a composition modulated axial heterostructure in zincblende (ZB) InAsSb nanowires initiated by pseudo-periodic twin boundaries using scanning tunneling microscopy. The twin boundaries exhibit four planes with reduced Sb concentration due to a lower Sb incorporation during lateral overgrowth of a 4H wurtzite as compared to a ZB stacking sequence. We anticipate that this leads to compositional band offsets in addition to known structural band offsets present between 4H and ZB polytypes, changing the band alignment from type II to type I.

The brain cytoplasmic (BC1) RNA is a non-coding RNA (ncRNA) involved in neuronal translational control. Absence of BC1 is associated with altered glutamatergic transmission and maladaptive behavior. Functionalization of Ge surfaces with the aim of incorporating specific dopant atoms to form high-quality junctions is of particular importance for the development of solid-state devices. In this study, we report the shallow doping of Ge wafers with a monolayer doping strategy that is based on the controlled grafting of Sb precursors and the subsequent diffusion of Sb into the wafer upon annealing. We also highlight the key role of citric acid in passivating the surface before its reaction with the Sb precursors and the benefit of a protective SiO overlayer that enables an efficient incorporation of Sb dopants with a concentration higher than 10 cm.
