Investigating the relationship between dental cavities and protective factors among children aged 0-5 years.

The purpose of this study was to determine the protective factors that contribute to the prevention of children aged 0-5 years from developing dental cavities. The oral hygiene practices of 266 children aged 0-5 years were assessed through surveys administered from 2019 to 2022 to identify clinical, dietary, social and parental factors. The Partial Least Squares (PLS) Regression and Artificial Neuron Networks (ANN) Models were used to determine protective factors associated with the prevention of dental cavities in children.

Pattern of metastasis of head and neck cancer in Nigeria: A 10 year review.

Introduction: Head and neck cancer is a common and aggressive malignancy with a high morbidity and mortality profile that occur in several anatomical sites in the head and neck region. They constitute the tenth most common cancer in the world. Metastatic head and neck cancers are associated with severe morbidities and its treatment is mainly palliative.

Purpose: Radiotherapy (RT) treatment at public hospitals in Nigeria is often interrupted by prolonged periods of machine breakdown because of insufficient funds for maintenance and repair. These delays have prompted the uptake of public-private partnerships (PPPs) to acquire and maintain RT equipment. This study aimed to understand Nigeria's current RT capacity and the impact of PPPs on RT availability and cost.

Pragmatic Solutions for Stroke Recovery and Improved Quality of Life in Low- and Middle-Income Countries-A Systematic Review.

Given the limited healthcare resources in low and middle income countries (LMICs), effective rehabilitation strategies that can be realistically adopted in such settings are required. A systematic review of literature was conducted to identify pragmatic solutions and outcomes capable of enhancing stroke recovery and quality of life of stroke survivors for low- and middle- income countries. PubMed, HINARI, and Directory of Open Access Journals databases were searched for published Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) till November 2018.

Histopathological patterns of ovarian tumours seen in Lagos University Teaching Hospital: a ten year retrospective study.

The incidence of cervical cancer has declined in developed nations due to routine use of cervical cancer screening services. In developing nations opportunistic screening is the practice, and many women present with late-stage disease. This study was designed to ascertain the knowledge of the women in Nigeria to cervical cancer, their practice of cervical cancer screening and factors hindering the use of available screening services.

Pattern of head and neck cancers among Nigerians in Lagos.

Three hundred and eight-one cases of head and neck cancers were studied over a 10 year period (1988 - 1998) at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Lagos. The aim was to assess the various sites of primary lesion, gender and age distribution and histopathological types. The International Classification of Diagnosis Oncology's (ICDO) 9TH version was used to categorize sites of primary lesion.
