Role of pre-operative endovascular embolization of a giant sacrococcygeal teratoma in neonate: a case report.

Background: Giant sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs) are at risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality due to their high vascularity. Pre-operative embolization of the feeding arteries, prior to complete surgical resection, may assist in minimizing the intraoperative blood loss by occluding these feeding arteries.

Case Presentation: We present a case of a highly vascular giant SCT in a neonate, which was successfully embolized through an endovascular approach prior to surgery.

A new biodegradable stent in bilio-pancreatic diseases: a prospective multi-center feasibility study.

Introduction: biodegradable stents of various designs are reportedly used in pancreato-biliary conditions with promising results. Their major advantage is the avoidance of repeat endoscopic procedure for stent removal, thereby reducing overall costs and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) associated adverse events. Radiation Exposure in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: a Fourteen-Year Review at a Tertiary Care Centre in Malaysia.

Background and Aims: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are subjected to a large amount of ionizing radiation during the course of their illness. This may increase their risk of malignancy to a greater level than that due to the disease itself. In Caucasian patients with Crohn’s disease, this has been well documented and recommendations are in place to avoid high radiation imaging protocols.

Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms: diversity in treatment techniques of varying anatomical presentations.

We discuss and illustrate various endovascular treatment options for intracranial aneurysms, to reflect common technique used in endovascular treatment of brain aneurysm. We select five cases of various aneurysm types to show assortments of endovascular treatment (EVT) are performed. Selective catheterization of the intracranial aneurysms and endovascular treatments are technically feasible, offering a viable alternative to the surgical approach.
