Dietary Habits, Physical Activity and Body Mass Index in Transgender and Gender Diverse Adults in Italy: A Voluntary Sampling Observational Study.

Transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) individuals continue to experience harassment and discrimination across various aspects of life, significantly impacting their physical and mental health. The scarcity of data on their general health, particularly regarding dietary habits, remains a challenge in developing effective healthcare strategies for this population. To address this gap, we analyzed selected dietary habits, physical activity (PA), and body mass index (BMI) among Italian TGD adults compared to the Italian general population (IGP).

The environment and male reproductive system: the potential role and underlying mechanisms of cadmium in testis cancer.

Cadmium is a known human carcinogen, and has been shown to profoundly affect male reproductive function, at multiple levels, by exerting both endocrine and non-endocrine actions. Nevertheless, the potential role of cadmium in the etiology of testis cancer has been scantly investigated in humans, and, currently, available epidemiological observational studies are insufficient to draw definitive conclusions in this regard. On the contrary, experimental studies in laboratory animals demonstrated that cadmium is a strong inducer of testis tumors, mostly represented by benign Leydig cell adenoma; moreover, malignant transformation was also reported in few animals, following cadmium treatment.

Fertility in Acromegaly: A Single-Center Experience of Female Patients During Active Disease and After Disease Remission.

Context: Fertility represents a major concern in patients with acromegaly.

Objective: The current retrospective study aimed to investigate gonadal function and fertility rates in acromegalic women.

Methods: In this referral-center study, 50 acromegalic women with disease onset within reproductive age were evaluated for prevalence of gonadal dysfunction and infertility.

The Vaginal Microbiome: A Long Urogenital Colonization Throughout Woman Life.

Vaginal microbial niche is a dynamic ecosystem, composed by more than 200 bacterial species which are influenced by genes, ethnic background and environmental-behavioral factors. Several lines of evidence have well documented that vaginal microbiome constantly changes over the course of woman's life, so to exert an important impact on woman quality of life, from newborn to post-menopausal ages. This review aims at analyzing the role of vaginal microbiome in the maintenance of woman's homeostasis and at tracking critical changes that commonly occur across woman's lifetime.

Bisphenol A: an emerging threat to female fertility.

Bisphenol-A (BPA) has been reported to be associated to female infertility. Indeed, BPA has been found to be more frequently detected in infertile women thus leading to hypothesize a possible effect of BPA on natural conception and spontaneous fecundity. In addition, in procedures of medically assisted reproduction BPA exposure has been found to be negatively associated with peak serum estradiol levels during gonadotropin stimulation, number of retrieved oocytes, number of normally fertilized oocytes and implantation.

Nomegestrol acetate/17beta-estradiol does not negatively alter the vascular resistance of clitoral arteries: a prospective, exploratory study.

The effect of nomegestrol acetate/estradiol (NOMAC/E2) on clitoral and uterine vascularization has never been evaluated. We aimed to investigate, in women consulting for contraceptive needs, the possible changes in clitoral and uterine arteries hemodynamic parameters after 6 months treatment with NOMAC/E2 as compared with other hormonal contraceptives (HCs). In this observational, prospective pilot study, ten women were enrolled.

Clinical outcome in differentiated thyroid carcinoma and microcarcinoma.

Introduction: Due to the frequent use of neck ultrasonography, the incidence of differentiated thyroid microcarcinoma (DTMC), defined as a lesion with greatest dimension ≤1 cm, is increasing worldwide. Although DTMC generally has a lower aggressivity and a better prognosis than differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC), some cases of clinically aggressive DTMC were found. The aim of this study is to compare the rate of recurrence in DTMC and DTC, during a 3-year follow-up.
