Psychological perspective of medication adherence in transplantation.

Aim: To identify the risk factors and the post-transplant psychological symptoms that affect adherence to therapy in a population of kidney transplant recipients.

Methods: The study examined the psychological variables likely responsible for the non-adherent behavior using a psychological-psychiatric assessment, evaluation of the perception of patients' health status, and an interview regarding the anti-rejection drug therapy assumption. The study included 74 kidney transplant recipients.

Vascular reconstruction in monolateral dual kidney transplantation with multiple arteries.

We report the results of monolateral dual kidney transplantation with grafts with multiple arteries. Among the 42 monolateral DKT performed in a seven-yr period, 12 (28.5%) patients received renal grafts with multiple arteries.

Background: Donor and recipient age may have an impact on the renal transplant outcome. Kidney transplantation from older donors may result in a worse outcome, and the survival benefit of kidney transplantation compared with dialysis may be reduced.
