Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the low rates of pregnancy in women with systemic sclerosis (SSc), focusing on the prevalence of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and early menopause among Thai female patients.
  • Conducted among 31 female SSc patients aged 18 to 45, the study found that POI was present in 9.7% of participants, while 35.7% experienced early menopause; both were associated with high doses of cyclophosphamide (CYC).
  • The results highlight the need for healthcare providers to consider the reproductive health of women with SSc, especially those on high doses of CYC, as early menopause and low ovarian reserve are common issues in this group.

Computerized tomography of the abdominopelvic region showed an infiltrative enhancing lesion involving the cul-de-sac and perirectal region with massive loculated ascites, suggesting carcinomatosis peritonei.
