Schizophrenia is a common chronic psychiatric disorder that causes age-related dysfunction. The life expectancy in patients with schizophrenia is ≥10 years shorter than that in the general population because of the higher risk of other diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases. Aging studies based on DNA methylation status have received considerable attention.

However, the specific criteria and durations of these conditions remain unclear. This study aimed to identify weather conditions that trigger durian flowering by monitoring its phenology and analyzing the relationship between minimum temperature and rainfall using two types of durian- grafting type and seed-grown type.

Schizophrenia is a psychiatric disorder with cognitive dysfunction as a core symptom along with positive and negative symptoms. Cognitive dysfunction in schizophrenia can be broadly classified into neurocognitive and social cognitive deficits, with these deficits significantly influencing social functioning. Therapeutic interventions aiming to enhance neurocognition and social cognition have been developed.

Methods: Between 2009 and 2015, 1171 patients underwent isolated bilateral ITA grafting for left-sided complete revascularization at 4 Japanese cardiac surgery centers: underwent in situ left ITA to the left anterior descending artery plus in situ right ITA to the left circumflex artery (LR group, n = 278), in situ right ITA to the left anterior descending artery plus in situ left ITA to the left circumflex artery (RL group, n = 665), and in situ left ITA to the left anterior descending artery plus free right ITA to the left circumflex artery (free group, n = 228).
Treatment of infection is challenging due to its intrinsic and acquired antibiotic resistance. As the number of current therapeutic options for infections is limited, developing novel treatments against the pathogen is an urgent clinical priority. The suppression of virulence of could be a new therapeutic option, and the type III secretion system (T3SS), which enables the bacteria to translocate various kinds of toxins into host cells and inhibits cellular functions, is considered as one possible target.

Brain organoids have gained attention as an model system that recapitulates the higher structure, cellular diversity and function of the brain to explore brain development, disease modeling, drug screening, and regenerative medicine. This progress has been accelerated by abundant interactions of brain organoid technology with various research fields.

However, there is limited research on the advantages and disadvantages of counselors using avatars in online video counseling. Herein, 25 university students were enrolled in a pilot online counseling session with a human counselor-controlled avatar, and asked about their emotional experiences and impressions of the avatar and to provide qualitative feedback on their communication experience.

Methods: The EGUIDE project is a nationwide prospective study of evidence-based clinical guidelines for schizophrenia and major depressive disorder in Japan. From 2016 to 2021, clinical and prescribing data from patients discharged from hospitals participating in the EGUIDE project were used to examine hypnotic medication prescriptions The prescribing rate of hypnotics and the prescribing rate of each type of hypnotic (benzodiazepine receptor agonist, nonbenzodiazepine receptor agonist, melatonin receptor agonist, and orexin receptor antagonist) were compared among patients who had been prescribed medication by psychiatrists participating in the EGUIDE project and patients who had been prescribed medication by nonparticipating psychiatrists.
We have adopted a simple and reproducible approach, "minimal manipulation approach," since January 2021 in five patients to minimize the risk of thromboembolic events during Zone 1 and 2 thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVARs) with shaggy aorta. The approach consists of two parts: ① Use of a 65-cm-long sheath (dry seal) to deliver the endografts without touching the protruding atheroma. Covering the atheroma with the first endograft delivered at Zone 3 to the mid-descending aorta (paving the aorta), and second endograft insertion and deployment through the paved aorta with first endograft.

While most studies have focused on the role of Sglt-1 in the small intestine and kidney, little is known about this transporter's expression and function in other tissues. We have previously shown that Sglt-1 is expressed in the mouse sperm flagellum and that its inhibition interferes with sperm metabolism and function.

This intriguing flowering event is often succeeded by mast fruiting, which provides a temporary yet substantial burst of food resources for animals, particularly frugivores. However, the physiological mechanism that triggers general flowering, particularly in dipterocarp species, is not well understood largely due to its irregular and unpredictable occurrences in the tall and dense forests.

Method: Array comparative genomic hybridization was performed on 3111 cases with SCZ, 1236 cases with ASD, and 2713 controls. We systematically prioritized likely pathogenic CNVs (LP-CNVs) in PRKN and examined their association with SCZ and ASD.
Background: Individual face-to-face cognitive behavioral therapy is known to be effective for bulimia nervosa (BN). Since foods vary considerably between regions and cultures in which patients live, cultural adaptation of the treatment program is particularly important in cognitive behavioral therapy for BN. Recently, an internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (ICBT) program was developed for Japanese women with BN, adapted to the Japanese food culture.

Background: Polypharmacy of additional psychotropics alongside the main treatment drug (antipsychotics in schizophrenia and antidepressants in major depressive disorder) is common in Japan. Our goal is to align psychotropic prescription in Japan with international standards, while reducing the differences between facilities. To achieve this goal, we aimed to compare prescriptions at the time of hospital admission and discharge.

In the present study, we investigated the detailed use of psychotropic medications among patients throughout Japan with schizophrenia who received LAIs or OAPs.
Methods: The present study used data from the project for the Effectiveness of Guidelines for Dissemination and Education in psychiatric treatment from 94 facilities in Japan.
Background And Purpose: Jumping to conclusion (JTC)-a cognitive bias in thinking processes-leads to drawing conclusions based on little information, and could be related to psychosis and paranoia. While it has recently been pointed out that it could accompany the autism spectrum disorder (ASD), no interventions targeting this bias in adolescents with ASD have been reported. Therefore, this exploratory study investigated the effects of a group social cognition program on JTC bias in adolescents with ASD.

However, antibodies against chicken L-PGDS are not commercially available, and the amount of L-PGDS in egg white is unclear. In this study, we prepared four monoclonal antibodies against chicken L-PGDS and developed a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and a highly sensitive immune complex transfer enzyme immunoassay (ICT-EIA) to quantify L-PGDS in hen egg whites.
