Helicobacter pylori and histopathological findings in patients with dyspepsia.

Background/aims: Although Helicobacter pylori infection has been reported to be more frequent in patients with dyspepsia, whether it should be treated in dyspepsia remains controversial. This study was carried out to compare the histopathological changes in Helicobacter pylori-positive and -negative dyspepsia patients.

Methods: A total of 461 patients with Helicobacter pylori-positive dyspepsia seen in our institution were enrolled in the study.

Olmesartan associated with acute renal failure in a patient with bilateral renal artery stenosis.

In patients with renal artery stenosis (RAS), the inhibition of renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system can cause deterioration of renal function. Here we present a 75-year-old man who developed acute renal failure after olmesartan treatment. Following discontinuation of olmesartan, his renal functions normalized.

The effect of alendronate, risedronate, and raloxifene on renal functions, based on the Cockcroft and Gault method, in postmenopausal women.

Background: Oral alendronate, risedronate, and raloxifene are effective treatment options in the management of postmenopausal osteoporosis. There is little previously reported about the renal safety profiles of these three agents in osteoporosis. We aimed to assess the risk of renal toxicity associated with oral alendronate, risedronate, and raloxifene in the treatment of osteoporosis, prospectively.
