Hemodynamic studies by direct and indirect methods in patients with myocarditis have revealed that as pulmonary hypertension developed, right-ventricular myocardial contractility and pulmonary arteriolar bed elasticity were decreasing. High pulmonary hypertension and structural shifts in pulmonary artery wall reduced the volumic potentialities of the lesser circulation. The antiorthostatic test was found an important test for the detection of compensatory deposition potentialities of the lesser circulation vessels in myocarditis patients.

Right ventricular hemodynamic and contractile impairments were shown to be not equivalent with similar clinical and functional signs of pulmonary hypertension. This fact indicates that the use of special techniques is of practical value in the determination of right ventricular hemodynamics and myocardial contractility in patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis.

In the first series (120 experiments), the dogs were exposed to immersion cooling. In 104 experiments of this series, the whole animal body was cooled to 18-20 degrees C whereas in 16 experiments with the same rate of body hypothermia, selective heart normothermia was maintained by means of an original method of indirect cardiosynchronized warm blood perfusion into the coronary artery.

The paper is concerned with the development of quantitative determination by thermodilution of cardiac output and abnormal arteriovenous blood shunt in patients with congenital heart diseases. A method for graphic analysis of the curves on the basis of revealed standard ratios of the descending part heights is proposed. It allows one to obtain the values of left-right shunts similar to those attainable by the method of Fick.

In the first series of experiments dogs were subjected to deep hypothermia with an external chilling of the organism; in the second series-to the isolated deep hypothermia of the head with the maintenance of normothermia in the organism. Bioelectrical activity of the brain and circulation minute volume were recorded in the animals of both series.
