Tocilizumab and immune signatures for targeted management of cytokine release syndrome in immune checkpoint therapy.

Background: This study aimed to identify specific biomarkers in oncology patients experiencing immune-related cytokine release syndrome (irCRS)-like symptoms during immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapy, including severe cases like hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (irHLH), and to distinguish these from sepsis. A secondary objective was to retrospectively analyze the efficacy of tocilizumab (TCZ) in treating corticosteroid (CS)-refractory high-grade irCRS.

Patients And Methods: A cohort of 35 patients presenting with irCRS-like symptoms was studied, including 9 with irHLH-like manifestations and 8 with sepsis.

Therapy with enzyme replacement through the brain infusion of the orphan drug cerliponase alfa, a recombinant human tripeptidyl peptidase 1 enzyme replacement therapy delivered via intracerebroventricular infusion, has been approved for Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis type 2 disease. The safety profile of cerliponase alfa has been established based on pre-authorization studies; currently, no post-marketing investigation has been performed to confirm it.

Introduction: Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is a chronic condition that impacts various facets of an individual's life, and society as a whole. The Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) protocol is an innovative intervention that can help to prevent relapse, particularly when used as a post-treatment approach. Introduction: Intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with alteplase (TPA) in hyperglycemic stroke patients is associated with an increased risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) and poor functional outcomes. We aimed to explore the association between admission hyperglycemia and sICH in large vessel occlusion stroke (LVOS) patients treated with TNK versus TPA before endovascular thrombectomy (EVT).

Methods: We reviewed consecutive LVOS patients treated with TPA or TNK before EVT from 01/2020 to 06/2023.

The study began before the COVID-19 emergency declaration in Italy. It is currently ongoing for follow-up, and the enrolment timeline encompassed different stages of the pandemic, various vaccination roll-out phases and prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Background: Blood pressure has become one of the most important vital signs to monitor in the perioperative setting.
