Can the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio be used as an early marker of small fetuses for gestational age? A prospective study.

Background: Small-for-gestational-age (SGA) fetuses are at increased risk of mortality and morbidity, and less than 30% will be detected by any ultrasound scan within 4 weeks before delivery. Our aim was to evaluate the relationship between neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in the first trimester of pregnancy and SGA fetuses.

Method: We performed a prospective study between June 2021 and August 2022, to evaluate the relationship between the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio in maternal blood in the first trimester of pregnancy, with the birth of an SGA fetus.

Recurrence of a second-trimester uterine rupture in the fundus distant from old scars: A case report and review of the literature.

Uterine rupture is a rare event which can have severe obstetric consequences and most often occurs on a scarred uterus at the site of the scar. However, a uterine rupture can appear at another location. We report the case of a woman with a previous emergency caesarean section for spontaneous posterior uterine rupture which recurred at another site during her second pregnancy.

The Use of the Goldfinger Dissector (GD) in Laparoscopic Sacrocolpopexy.

We tested the employment of the GD to create a retroperitoneal tunnel between the promontory and the vaginal apex during the laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy with a mesh. Thus far no report has experimented the use of the GD in this indication. This study's aim was to evaluate the safety and the interest to use this laparoscopic instrument.

Pseudomyxoma Peritonei: A Case Report Diagnosed in a 47-Year-Old Woman with Chronic Pelvic Abdominal Pain and Appendicular Origin: Review of the Literature and Management.

The authors report a case of pseudomyxoma peritonei with gelatinous peritoneum in a 47-year-old-woman. The main symptom for discovery was a chronic pelvic abdominal pain. This disease is particularly rare.

Consider the Risk of Vesicouterine Fistula in the Event of Intermittent Fluid Vaginal Discharge after a Cesarean Section.

Though the number of Vesicouterine Fistulas is steadily increasing in association with the increasing number of cesarean sections, clinical presentation can be subtle and not easily identified. In this case study, we will review the presenting symptoms of this complication and suggest an updated management protocol.

Robotic Surgery in Gynecology.

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) can be considered as the greatest surgical innovation over the past 30 years. It revolutionized surgical practice with well-proven advantages over traditional open surgery: reduced surgical trauma and incision-related complications, such as surgical-site infections, postoperative pain and hernia, reduced hospital stay, and improved cosmetic outcome. Nonetheless, proficiency in MIS can be technically challenging as conventional laparoscopy is associated with several limitations as the two-dimensional (2D) monitor reduction in-depth perception, camera instability, limited range of motion, and steep learning curves.

Placental site trophoblastic tumor is rare. They represent a rare form of gestational trophoblastic disease. They occur mainly in women who have a history of miscarriage, termination of pregnancy, or even a normal or pathological ongoing pregnancy.

Laparoscopic treatment of placenta percreta retention in a cesarean scar: a case report.

Placenta percreta retention within the scar of a previous cesarean section is rare. We report here one of these cases treated successfully by laparoscopy, with uterine repair. Different therapeutic options are described.
