Three-dimensional evaluation of the effect of nasoalveolar molding on the volume of the alveolar gap in unilateral clefts.

Over the last few decades it has been shown that nasoalveolar molding (NAM) has had an effect on the correction of nasal cartilage deformities and the alveolar process. This three-dimensional (3D) analysis evaluated the effects of NAM on the alveolar cleft region in patients with unilateral cleft lip and palate. Alveolar gap volumes were measured in a retrospective review of 40 dental casts of 20 patients with unilateral clef lip and palate before and after treatment.

Influence of horizontal dimensions around single gap and adjacent zirconia implants on the papilla - a cross-sectional survey.

Purpose: To evaluate a possible association between the inter-implant distance and the papilla deficit. Additionally, the effect of high or low contact points of the crowns on the papilla deficit was investigated.

Materials And Methods: Periapical radiographs taken 1 year after loading were used to assess the distance from the shoulder of the implant to the adjacent tooth or implant.

Anterior Loop of the Mandibular Canal-A Source of Possible Complications.

Introduction: Recognizing the radiographic position of the mental foramina is not sufficient to avoid complications during dental implant surgery. In many cases, the inferior alveolar nerve extends mesially as an "anterior loop" (AL). The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence and spatial extension of the AL on computed tomography (CT).

Altered position of the medial lingual nutritional foramina at different stages of alveolar ridge atrophy.

To determine the altered location of the medial lingual nutritional foramina in different stages of bone resorption, 55 cadaveric mandibles were selected for this study from a total of 1532. Prevalence, location of the foramen (lingual, cranial, labial), application of Atwood classification (grades 1-6), and macroanatomic dissections were tools of this examination. An increasing grade of atrophy leads to a shift in position of the medial lingual nutritional foramen.
